I'm glad I'm not the only one who hates Joshua. Every time he spoke I just wanted to punch that smug grin off of his asshole face.

I haven't gotten around to playing TWEWY yet, so I've only seen him in KH:Dream Drop Distance, but yeah, he does seem like a bit of a smug asshole.

Their world was destroyed, and he attempted to save Shiki, Neku, Beat and Rhyme. But all he could salvage were their dreams, and he was trying to rebuild them from that and his own memories of them. :c IT'S ACTUALLY PRETTY SAD.

But yeah, that sequence confused a lot of people who didn't know TWEWY, and even those who did know it for awhile before they reread lines and realized that the reason none of the others made sense is because they're basically patchwork dolls. :'D

such as Neku being nearly Week 1 self, despite knowing Joshua pretty well, and Shiki knowing Joshua despite not knowing him until Week 3. Or Rhyme knowing him at all. But they all did. :'D And it's painful.

I think that's supposed to be the point of Joshua. Neku thought he and Shiki were going to get out, and now Shiki's gone and Neku's stuck working with this arrogant dipshit. It's reflected in gameplay by how squishy and hard to protect he is. The point when Neku actually starts to like Joshua coincides with when he starts becoming more useful in combat.

(And then the ending rolls around, and Joshua takes on a rather different role in the plot. I ended the game hating him all over again.)

Joshua frustrates me so much. It's not even that I dislike is characterization- he can be obnoxious, but in a fun way. But so many of the horrible things that happen in the game are completely Joshua's fault, and I feel like the game glossed over just how much his actions hurt everyone else.
