Honestly, how the heck is this community crazy? I mean, there's a handful of trolls, and some petty and snide anon arguments. But I'm sorry, you're obviously a troll. Most people here are more or less genuine, and reject the crazy stuff. In fact, I dare say most people here are relatively civil and well-meaning, except in the case of a fandom or social justice argument.

I'll fully admit to stanning for PC gaming (and I'll get into an argument with DC vs Marvel if it's disrespectful enough) but outside of a few people I love this place and everyone in it.

I guess I can understand why someone would think the FS crowd is crazy. Anytime an unpopular opinion secret is posted there will be people who call them trolls, despite that the whole point of FS is for people to share their unpopular opinions to get it off their chest because they can't say it in their fandoms without getting shit for it. The purpose is for other people with unpopular opinions to realize they might not be alone in their fandom views.

However people here just use it to mock and criticize opinions that were already made in secret... that are MEANT to be unpopular opinions.

Basically some people on FS are too stupid to realize the purpose of this in the first place and try to cause wank and drama.

Most of the arguements that happen here are more or less sane. We bicker about various ships and fandoms, and we disagree about social issues; but we don't usually scream and cry and fling insults, we just try to sway one another to our way of thinking or try to prove one another wrong. And it rarely gets very heated.

This! And I think when it does get heated, there are plenty of people who make fun of those who get out of hand. Like, death threats and personal insults are pretty uncommon, and usually anons respond telling them to chill. For an anon community, I genuinely think we're pretty tame. Especially in the General Comments, there's a lot of legitimate discussions and even encouragement for people with problems.

I find it pretty strange to be accused of being a 'troll' (ie making shit up) when I have a different point of view, especially politically, but I guess that comes with the hyperbole and wanky suspicion of a secrets community. And I love it nonetheless and would probably get bored otherwise. People are generally reasonable however.

Why?

This is a place where, if you're genuine and civil, then you'll get along, and, for the most part, people will be nice to you. It's really one of the less scary places on the internet, from where I'm standing.
