Just remember, librarians (just like cashiers, mailmen, other people at the gym, and that one guy who saw you trip) don't give a shit about you. You are just one person in a line of dozens of others. Just don't show your private parts and/or do anything illegal, and no one cares.

Some of us librarians do give a shit, just not about your reading choices. I get worried sick when regulars don't show up for more than a couple days, and I'm always happy to hear about how things are going for my patrons.

OP, librarians want you to check out whatever you want to read. And truth be told, we often don't even notice what it is you're checking out unless it's something we're interested in too.

On the one hand, I want to believe that's true, but on the other hand, I know that I would completely, completely do that if I was a librarian.
