I hate that for certain subjects at my university, the only book available is a stupid online thing. It has downloadable PDFs but when I'm working on a paper and I need to fact-check something it would be so much easier and quicker for me to flip through the book than wait forever to load a pdf and scroll around trying to find something. And if I found it used, it would a fuckload cheaper too.

ALSO why does everybody upload stuff in fucking .DOCX

I have found that Open Office opens .docx files pretty handily, but it drives me crazy when someone sends me an attachment in that format.

Yeah I'm using Open Office but it's still rather annoying. RTF people. It works with EVERYTHING.

In my present classes, the profs specify that they want .docx

Huh, weird. In my classes we do a lot of file sharing and I'm pretty sure there was something in the guidelines about saving it as an .rtf so that everyone can open it. But nobody ever reads the guidelines.
