I think it's a little pointless to compare one moderately-sized community to a massive blogging site that has millions of users. But I can say that I have seen just as much sjw-related nastiness and wank on Livejournal* back in its heyday than I have on Tumblr. And it's true that the case on Tumblr is totally overstated, it's really not that hard to avoid.

(*I know this is Dreamwidth, but y'know, for the sake of the argument.)
