I once wanted to read a certain comic story arc and the bound volume I wanted was in a certain suburban library. It was shelved in the "teen room" which was a separate room with a glass wall, a big neon sign that said "TEEN ROOM" over the door, and a motion sensor that would turn on the lights when you walked in. I figured they might as well have a klaxon sound when you walk in there. Pretty embarassing for an adult, but of course, no one even noticed I was there.

omg that sounds like my library. It's a good thing I look young.

When I was a kid I used to honestly think that teen sections of libraries were intentionally set up to scare away children and adults. This might explain why I never really read YA stuff and went straight for the grown up novels.

It was the same way with me. I read YA fiction but I always found it mortifying that it was in the children's section.
