I'm not watching it because I heard that it took a huge tone shift, but I was interested in watching it before that.

The tone shifts are hard to get used to for an episode or two, but it seems they're really part of the point of the series and in my opinion they work once you get used to that... but it's a polarizing aspect with people who've been watching regularly, so ymmv
