This makes me sad, because I've been working up to writing something long and plotty, but everyone will have given up on the fandom by the time I get there!

It makes me sad bc I write for the fandom now and try to come up with interesting stuff but according to everyone here I write meaningless garbage.

If you mean me, I only rail against AUs that come up with shallow window-dressing so hot anime boys can kiss. But I do like AUs and I've seen some good AUs that explore the setting and how it affected the characters and so forth. Fics only become meaningless garbage if you're only making them FOR TEH FEELS or as a transparent delivery system for hot anime boy sex.

oh hey there

tbh I was anon b/c of being on my phone, not out of any deep thing.

And hey, maybe I write feelsy pointless tripe too, idk. It's just a bummer that everybody hates on the fandom because I'm finding it a lot of fun in my corner, and this was after a long, painful hiatus from fandom activities in general. I wasn't able to write anything at all, and since joining SNK fandom I've probably written 60-70k in a six months, which is way more than I'd been clocking before.

My Ao3's under the same name, if you want to go look or whatever XD

ahhh yeah i actually read some of your stuff and im waiting for the superhero thing to finish before trying it out

don't always agree w/ your characterization and stuff, but its better than many others' imo. and stuff like the PR au is fun

and even when i dislike or disagree w/ some stuff, your writing is never ever what i'd call meaningless garbage

ah well, thanks for the validation XD

tbh I wasn't so much looking for people to say "oh no your fics are good", it's just a general theme that I notice a lot. Because okay, I agree that there aren't many masterpieces, but I've read good, solid, fun fics that were not stupid AUs. There's just this general feeling I get that people are generally looking down on the entire fandom and all its authors, so as an author myself it kind of miffs me. Not to mention that as people have said, it's a relatively young fandom. Some of those authors are just starting out, and I'm glad they don't come across these opinions if only because it would be a shame for some of them to lose faith in themselves. Fandom's a good place to practice writing in a fun environment.

As for the superheroes - it's kind of the catch-22 of fics, the multiparter thing XD like, if people aren't interested it doesn't encourage writing it, but a lot of people don't want to invest in a fic that might not get finished, I get that.

I don't know if I've read your fics, but I've read good SNK fics. I don't really get this secret.

Most fics in every fandom aren't to my taste, but I found 3-4 in SNK that I like without really looking, so that's a good hit rate in my book. Have I just been really lucky?

Re: oh hey there

3-4 is not really a good hit rate. I have more than 3-4 fics I like in SnK fandom, but generally the fic is really bad, and the tumblr reccers don't help either - they usually have abysmal taste. I rely on FFA for my recs.

no pls

long and plotty is my lifeblood at the very least there will be one person willing to give it a try

but i understand if this will not be enough to sway you

Thanks, anon. After I finish my current WIP I'm going to give it a shot.
