Chiming in as another person who has previously been in a mental hospital—both as a voluntary and involuntary admission—to say that this is not great advice. The hospital I went to was a wonderful place where I learned how to handle my own depression and self-destructive tendencies in a more constructive way/get my meds adjusted in a "safe" environment— IE one where I didn't have to worry about outside responsibilities. It was very helpful to me.

The one thing anon is completely right in that you should educate yourself, if you can. Find out what programs/hospitals are near you, whether there are any that sound better to you or if there are any that you would really like to avoid. Ask other people who have been committed what their experiences were, to try and take the fear out of the experience.

There is no shame in getting outside help with things that you're having trouble handling yourself.

This is great advice and your icon is adorable!

Do you mind me asking where it's from?

Thank you on both counts!

It's from a video for the Vocaloid song Toeto. Feel free to take it with credit!

And this is how you give advice based on your personal experience without looking like a douche.

I'm glad you're feeling better.
