Idk, it sounds like she knows exactly what she likes to me.

I agree with this secret 100%. If they're not arguing and/or fighting, I'm not interested.

(On that note, any recs, OP?)

"After the World Fell Down" by Zephyras (https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8220673/1/After-The-World-Fell-Down) has to be my current favourite with that theme in it. Not only are the fights well-written, choreographed, and meaningful, they can be downright hilarious at times too. Her other big NaruSasu fic "The People We've Become" is good too, and also has a fighter-dynamic. Albeit it's unfinished.

If you have any recs of your own, please feel free to pass them on as well!

All of the comments above sound like excuses for rape. That's horrifying.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-27 12:10 am (UTC)(link)
I think the drawing point of a dynamic like that is that they're on equal ground and capable of kicking the other's butt should they try something they're not ok with. Having it turn to rape rather defeats the point of liking them being equals. It's better when they both consent.

Well, I mean, I can kinda get that perspective but I just don't understand why he wouldn't go along with it. It was just a harmless prank. The worst thing that would've happened is someone would've had to wash their hair. And, well, we all wash our hair on a fairly regularly basis, am I right? There's very few people who don't. Not that there's anything wrong with not washing your hair. You do what you want with your life, be you, I'm not gonna stop you (although you should wash the rest of yourself if only because if you don't, then you wind up making things difficult for the people around you). Anyway, point is, he just really kinda killed the mood, sucked the life outta the whole thing, you know?

This goes for any pairing that's extremely OOC.

Yep.
cloud_riven: A doodle of Darkwing Duck with a finger raised! (for the record i am the best)

Pretty much this

(Anonymous) 2014-02-27 10:23 am (UTC)(link)
Yep. I could have made almost exactly this secret about Ichigo & Ishida from Bleach. In fact, I just might.
cloud_riven: Stick-man styled Apollo Justice wearing a Santa hat, and also holding a giant candy cane staff. (Default)

I can handle some ooc, like when it comes to forcing au or curtain fic, but I mostly agree. I know some people like their seme/uke typing with these two, but I just can't have them without the love/hate bro levels lurking behind it. Gimme less gentle caresses and more shounen "i hurt you because i love you" rough housings.

Although yeah, this can kind of be said about any pairing done ooc.

I don't read smut, but I feel this way about people making villains way too OOC, or redeemed through the "power of love" or whatever the shit.

No. They're villains.
If they're canonically assholes, make them act like assholes.
They're not nearly as fun any more if you don't.

(Anonymous) 2014-02-27 10:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Also, don't turn every villain into a rapist just because he's a villain.

I know it's fandom-specific, but that text applies to SO MANY pairings, holy god. If I wanted to read about two generic romantic leads being mushily in love without any conflict, ambiguity, "is it antagonism or a maladjusted gesture of affection?", or ambivalence about the true nature of the deep-seated Feelings they have about each other... I'd be off reading fic about the canon's main romantic pairing.

(Icon, unfortunately, related.)

(Anonymous) 2014-02-27 12:17 am (UTC)(link)
You pretty much took the words out of my mouth. If I wanted mushy romance, I'd go read something about a couple who has a mushy romance canonically. Or at least, about two people who seem to be inclined towards mushy romance. Otherwise, it's like your two favourite characters have undergone lobotomies before the fic started, and it's not really them you're reading about... since everything that made their relationship interesting and intriguing has been taken away.

Also, anyone putting the Master in a mushy romance makes me want to weep inside. Ow.
