It'd be really nice if more people were consistent about tagging in general, but I'm not holding my breath.

Y U NO TAG?

[personal profile] nyxelestia 2014-02-26 04:29 am (UTC)(link)
(Not you specifically, just in general).

Tags mean things. They have uses and should not be difficult. I mean yeah, I get some things like warning or content tags or how to include minor characters is a thing, I really do. But the more basic stuff - i.e. this is a picture/fic about Loki, I'll tag it with Loki! - should not be a problem.

SO WHY IS IT A PROBLEM?

Excessive tags irritate me, but not nearly as much as not enough tagging at all. Though honestly I hate both and wish people would stop treating the tag field as some kind of optional extra text box and start using it as a field for terms that people use to look for stuff that interested them.

Seriously, it is NOT a hard concept!

/rant

Can you tell I have a lot of feelings about this?

On the opposite end, it'd be nice if people tagged more so my xkit black list thing would WORK.

But asking that is apparently policing someone about their blog and it's a big bad no-no and why don't you step on legoes you fucking whitey cis scum?

(i've seen that every now and then. it gets irritating)

I'm starting to hate when people throw 'policing' around like that. I mean I get the concept and I agree that in many ways, it sucks...but at the same time, do these people remember that yeah, hi, we kind of need the police and want to keep them around and sometimes that policing serves a good purpose? -_-
