I said good pop music, not... pleasant, workmanlike, but ultimately mediocre pop music (not going to throw Biebs under the bus just for rhetorical purposes). It's definitely better than endless guitar solos and screaming. Go listen to some Prince, or Nothing Compares 2 U, or Ignition (Remix). The Beatles. Elvis. Buddy Holly. David Bowie! David freaking Bowie! Come on, it's fantastic stuff.

(I don't actually dislike metal, although I don't listen to much of it. It's basically fine. But it's no pop music)

I don't actually hate pop music; it is what it is and I don't listen to it enough for it to really have an affect on my life. I'm just messin' with you.

It's such a hit or miss genre though. Definitely not my overall favorite.
