Personally I don't like tagging the characters in shippy-art because I don't want to clog the character tags with a ship that not everyone will be cool with, so I just stick to the ship-name. Non-shippy art though I'll tag the characters properly.

I understand what you mean but in that case I think it's best to at least put the character names in the caption section instead. That way it doesn't show up in the character tags but still identifies the characters.

As someone who doesn't ship a lot of the big ships in my fandoms and has to slog through shippy stuff in character tags, I appreciate this. But, it might be a good idea to put the characters in the caption, rather than the tags, just in case. Actually that kind of goes for everything bit of art, I guess. Tags get lost, but most of the fanart I see still has the artist's description on it. *shrugs*

Oh yeah that is certainly a good point, sometimes I forget to put character indicators in a caption but most of the time I'll have something, even if it's just a simple 'Character A/Character B'.
