Re: Recommendations for WoW?
(Anonymous) 2014-02-26 05:35 pm (UTC)(link)I've been playing since 2005, no breaks at all, and I still love the game.
A great resource if you're new is the New Players forum:
http://us.battle.net/wow/en/forum/1011644/
There's even a sticky there where you can fill out questions and those of us who hang out in there can help direct you toward a class (though if you've played a hunter/archer class in other MMOs, and don't mind a pet, they're a class that is easy to play, but more difficult to master, in my opinion).
My advice? Have fun. Mess around. There's nothing you can't undo, so you really can't permanently mess up. If you decide to go beyond the trial, I like recommending you take two gathering professions (such as herbalism, skinning, or mining) because then you can sell the materials to higher level players at auction, which can net you the gold you'll need for mount training, etc.
Yes, the population has declined, but Blizzard is currently consolidating servers, so it's really not an issue. You can also queue for things like dungeons, battlegrounds, and raids. The system will match you with other players from ALL realms, not just the one you're on.
Try it out, and have fun!
