I agree. Loki isn't admittedly one of my favourite characters, but his characterization is still one of the things I found most disappointing about the MCU/Thor fandom. Literally no fun to his character at all. Just fic with him being misunderstood or bitter, and angsty, even by authors I considered to be very good. I mean I get that he was bitter, but what about his genuine villainous love of being a dick, giving himself power trips, and causing trouble?

For various reasons, Loki gets woobified more than any other character in MCU canon, and in a fandom that often includes a) Tony Stark, played by b) RDJ's kicked puppy face, that's really saying something. There is a crazy amount of over-identification with Loki's outcast/loner/bullied child aspects that completely ignore the fact that his response to said bullying was, ya know, mass murder, often of people with little or nothing to do with his shitty home life.

Also, fandom does love to woobify their broody, skinny dark-haired Brits with cheekbones beyond all recognition. MCU Loki never stood a chance.
