There's very few times I've felt "yep, this is 100% MCU Loki" reading fic and don't get me wrong, I don't mean the writers are terrible it's just that I feel a big part of fanon Loki appears to be laying on thick the angst issues. I also don't like anything that uses said angst (which is somewhat legitimate) to gloss over the bad shit he's done (which generally isn't excusable.)

And that is why I have a massive issue with anything that involves him joining the Avengers. I can suspend my disbelief for the purpose of enjoying a pairing I'm drawn to but as things stand I don't believe it could actually happen in the MCU.

Anyway, he can definitely be angsty AND still be recklessly mischievous.
