Echoing dethtoll's redemption = death. One of my favorite tropes is reformed villainy and hero/villains working together against another villain, so redemption = death is completely counter-intuitive.

And then I also hate love triangles where it's obvious that A and B are going to be end game but C keeps getting pushed in FOR THE DRAMA.

Also love triangles that aren't really triangles because A was just talking about her dear long lost brother but B only hopped in halfway through the conversation and didn't stick around long enough to hear the full story so now - instead of just, you know talking about it, B takes it as a personal betrayal and OH THE DRAMA.

Blegh.

I love when villains work with the heroes. I would love a fic where the Marvel villains ban together to stop the world from being destroyed (because if the world is destroyed who will they rule).

And wow. You made me realize how much I hate problems that could be solved if people just COMMUNICATED!

Heroes and villains working together is my favorite thing, omg. *_*

It's such a bad message, isn't it? It's like, "you worked so hard to mend your ways, you have to die now." It's like saying if you're a bad guy, you're forever tainted and any attempt to change is punished because good and bad are inherently opposed and moral ambiguity is bad. It's made worse if a previously good character turns evil or is revealed to have been evil all along, but is never punished for it.

Yep, apparently once corrupted, never unstained. Only heroes allowed apparently are those with 100% incorruptible moral standards.

Given some of my favourite characters (Fëanorions), I totally agree with this. Tolkien seemed rather fond of "forgiveness = death".
