I'm opposite of this. I can only write when I'm happy. If I don't, I have horrible self doubt and loathing that manifests. So I don't write much. Go depression.

Same here. My creativity in general tanks when I'm unhappy because I just don't have the motivation to do anything, much less create things.

Same. I have been feeling depressed, and just can't get myself to write.

Me too. My involvement in fandom has been greatest at times in my life when I've been busy with a lot of constructive things and have had a very active offline social life. It's like all these different aspects of my life were giving me energy that I coukld pour into whatever I was focusing on at the moment. That's not to say I was never stressed - some of these time periods were when I was in school, but that could be a good kind of stressed. It's been times when I was feeling lonely and isolated and purposeless on all fronts that I've drufted away from fandom and felt less creative in general. I'd have time on my hands and plenty of things I coukd fill it up with, but nothing would appeal.

This. I currently have a very busy (and sometimes stressful) job and a relatively active RL social life and yet I'm producing far more than I was when I was unemployed and had all the time in the world to do things. I find I have a lot more energy to funnel towards being creative when I'm doing lots of things in general.
