Re: How do you think the members of your OTPs or brOTPs would react to the other's death?

I was secretly kinda thinking the same about Holmes' reaction, but I know that my mind tends to get a bit too sappy and melodramatic in my thinking about this kind of thing so I kinda second-guessed myself.

(Although I think that if Watson died while Holmes was in the middle of a case, he'd still finish the case first.)

I agree with that (especially in the light of our discussion above). Holmes's a professional who's obsessed with his work. He'd definitely finish the case.

I'm not sure ACD himself would make Holmes commit suicide, but then again, I also think that a major character death in the context of this series is such an unimaginable thing that there is no guessing the would-be authorial intent. And from the looks of it, Holmes wouldn't be able to go on after Watson's death. And I seriously doubt he'd willingly choose the gallows after killing Evans.

ETA: isn't it a little eerie how we always agree on things and talk to each other? I may just be your fictional twin or something along the lines of William Wilson.

Well, we mostly talk about either Sherlock Holmes or writing and literature in general, so that's sorta a narrow basis ;) But one thing we definitely do disagree on is that I am totally content with death of the author.

ETA: oh man, now I want fic where Watson's death IS the case that Holmes has to investigate first.

I may write it, actually, once I'm done with my Rivers fic. Because it's an awesome idea.
