Captain Whitebread got a lot more interesting after he became Parallax, IMO. And it was a lot of fun watching his journey back to the land of the living.

But as a Green Lantern? I think Geoff Johns has done a lot to make him a legitimately flawed, interesting character who has to deal with the stuff he's done (even if it's not technically his fault.) I haven't read past Johns' last issue, so I'm a little worried about what GL will be like after that. (I'm slowly catching up, shh)

I am unfairly biased against Hal, I admit. Maybe I should try giving some of Johns' Lantern stuff a read.

Geoff Johns is the best thing to happen to Green Lantern since Kyle Rayner.

There's a special place in my heart for Hal because the old GL comics where he first starred were my introduction to comics at large. But I totally get why people hated him; looking back he was a total bore. I say that with fondness.
