Who are you rooting for?

Are those tonight? Dang. I might try if I get enough homework done.

I've seen all the Best Picture nominations except for 12 Years a Slave. The only one I liked that I have seen was Gravity, and even that I don't think was actually as good as it felt. I liked Secret Life of Walter Mitty a lot better than, like, Her or Wolf of Wallstreet, but I guess that didn't get nominated.

Best Actress: Sandra Bullock (I assume)

Maybe Leo will finally get Best Actor? lol

I am not watching but I hope Jennifer Lawrence wins whatever she is nominated for (Actress or Supporting Actress). I don't care either way but I want to see Tumblr have a conniption if the beats Lupita Nyong'o. Their tears will be delicious.

Is Lupita actually a nice person with a fresh personality or is Tumblr all over her because of all these nice social justice points you get everytime you reblog something about her?

The second one. They want her to win because she is black. That could be ANY black actress in her place and that is who they would be rooting for.

She was great in the film though. Then again all the actresses were. That is why they were nominated.

Lupita Nyong'o is wonderful. Honestly, I'm sure there are some people who think they're all enlightened because they're fans of a black woman, but I think it's equally bad to assume that that's the only reason anyone likes her.

I haven't seen either movie, but if those synopses are accurate, I agree with the "fix." What exactly is so amazing about an actress from Kentucky playing a housewife from Long Island? I'm honestly confused here. Even without the comparison, I'd be confused about why the writer of that article thinks there's any "bravura" in that.

I didn't even know about the Oscars until today. I heard Jared Leto won (I guess he's an actor again? IDEK) and my first thought was that Leto!anon is going to be insufferable for the next month.

Cate Blanchett and Matthew McConaughey. And I'll be very upset if Sandra Bullock wins over Cate Blanchett or Amy Adams. Very upset.

I feel so much pity for Leo, because I really want him to win one of these days but no way he's gonna win this year (again).
I guess he'll grow old and grey and the only Oscar he'll ever win will be the honorary one for his lifetime achievement when he's 80.

I'd like to but I don't have a TV. Apparently CTV is livestreaming it in Canada but I'm not sure whether it's one of those things where I have to have some sort of cable subscription of something.

I am. Hoping Let It Go and Frozen get their two Oscars.

ETA: Also Leo. Praying you finally get your Oscar this year.

Yay! I'm so glad Gravity won some stuff!

I don't understand why anyone cares about the oscars. Like "hey, a bunch of old white dudes think your movie is pretty cool!" who gives a fuck?
