Notes:
As a note, social justice is not a fandom. Tumblr itself is not a fandom.

Also, I don't think it's as simple as "not interested in female characters"="sexist" but I do think that people's taste in media can be more reflective of their biases than they like to think. I'm getting tired of the arguments always coming down to either "the media you like says absolutely nothing about you" or "the fact that you like/don't like x means you're x-ist!"

(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 03:48 am (UTC)(link)For example, I'm only really in anime/manga fandoms, but there are a lot of common tropes in that medium that are only applied to women 99% of the time that I just cannot stand. As a result, I don't tend to appear very fond of them if you only view my fannish activity, despite the fact I tend to dislike male characters with those tropes just as much. So I'd probably seem to have pretty problematic views.
At the same time, if you took feelings outside of fandom into account [mainly because most of the fandoms I'd love to be in just flat out don't exist]? It's a much more even split, and I doubt I'm the only one.
tl;dr: I agree with you, it's just very very hard to see those trends accurately without knowing the person well.
