X and X-2 never really grabbed me the same way VII VIII and IX did. Tidus kinda bored me. Rest of the cast were just as cool as FF supporting characters should be, but I just couldn't get on-board the Tidus train. The world felt smaller as well. That might just be me, tho.

Me too. FFVIII was my first Final Fantasy and will always be my favorite.

A lot of XIII fans seem to have discovered VIII on Tumblr. I see way more attention toward it versus some of the ones before or after. In fact, I think I've seen a LOT more love for it than VII or VI in recent years, which is always interesting to note.

(It's my BFF's fave, too. I mostly love it for the Laguna trio.)

I honestly wish I could still play it, but I can't get through a game without cheating and Griever (savegame editor) no longer works. I love the story, but I'd have huge problems getting through it if I really had to grind through the whole game.

I'm trying to find proof now, but I think I'd heard that it was possible to play through FF8 without ever leveling up. That the monsters are adjusted to the party's level. So that theoretically means less grinding. Theoretically.

Though I'm not entirely sure since I have to keep restarting my game. I think the farthest I ever got was the stupid space game. Stupid Rinoa in stupid space.

You can do pretty well without level grinding in FF8 IF you have a lot of spells and use the junction system properly. When I first played it, I was young and stupid and didn't have the patience to sit through the tutorials at the start of the game and then I kept dying and dying trying to kill Adell....
