Err, what was the competition? Of course it was going to win. The only competitor was really The Wind Rises, which I haven't seen because it didn't come out in theaters here yet... but I heard it's one of Miyazaki's more, uhh, boring films.

The worst Miyazaki film will still be hundreds of times better than neo Disney.

Miyazaki is over rated as hell. People talk about the character designs repeating themselves over in Disney. Miyazaki is horrible at this. Same basic face heroines. Just change the hairstyle and the clothes.

Maybe in terms of critical analysis of story, symbolism, themes, detail, etc.

But in regards to which one is more moving, and hits home for adults and enchants children? I think that would be a matter of opinion.

I haven't been a big fan of Disney since it went Pixar and abandoned 2D art, but Frozen was a cut above the rest.

The thing is the award was best animated film, not best kids film.

And in the end, it's subjective. Successful art is what speaks to people. Might not be the same for everyone, but it's very obvious Frozen moved a lot of people, and had heart. I have no idea if The Wind Rises was good in that respect.

Also: Frozen is a million times better than some of Miyazaki's movies. Porco Rosso comes to mind.

Disagree. Porco Rosso is a great kids' movie although it's not incredibly amazing. Kind of like Frozen actually.

It's a fine kids movie. But it's not better than Frozen. Opinion and all, but I can't even see how they compare.

I'm not comparing the content in the films, I'm just saying that they are both good/enjoyable kids' movies, but nothing exceptional. I'm not sure why you think Frozen is a million times better.

Millions of people are moved by Justin Bieber.
