Someone above said it better than me - well, us queer people of various sorts are the ones smacked with heteronormativity everyday in the media.
I understand if OP's fandom friends constantly do that to them, otherwise they can freely walk away.

Though, I do wonder what the slash-dominant fandoms are? I've always been in those that are equal or mostly het. For the record it's usually video games or tv series.

Basically all the big Western live action fandoms.

SPN, Merlin, Teen Wolf, Sherlock... etc.

I personally hate the Teen Wolf and Sherlock fandoms, but YMMV.

That's overstating it quite a bit. Doctor Who, Bones, Castle, Once Upon a Time, The X-Files, etc. have more het than slash. It really varies.
