Re: do you have gangs in your city?

Yes but they're mostly dying. We have seven main gangs left here. I kind of find them harmlessly irritating at best? On one hand that's mostly because a majority of the gang members know me by name from organizations I volunteer for but it's also because most of their various turf struggles are mostly focused on tagging and myspace drama lol.

We had a police sergeant straight up (anonymously) admit to reporters cops here they're trying to keep the younger members out of the prison system as much as possible because prison is where thug wannabes go to learn how to actually pose a threat. Community service gets handed out a lot.

For all the drug use, racial tension, boredom, and machismo values we have here there's been surprisingly little violence as a result in the latest generation. With the exception of one road rage incident suspected to have been exacerbated by gang ties I think our last driveby was in 2007 and even then it was sort of a standalone.
