I once heard about, though I never saw personally, a Harry Potter fic from around the turn of the century that concerned itself with Remus Lupin's wanderings during the period after the Marauders era and before the books, all about him wandering around being pretty and angsty and gay and so on.

It apparently included a stretch where he worked as a flight attendant under the name Gaetan Dugas (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ga%C3%ABtan_Dugas).

That kinda pushes my crazybuttons, I have to admit. Can anyone confirm that this was real?
