In real life, ability to orient oneself usually stems from noticing little things along your way and memorizing them subconsiously. In games, most of these "things" are repeatable similar tiles, which drives your internal compass completely bonkers.

Not to mention that spaces in video games can be perfectly illogical in a physical sense, your brain really doesn't stand a chance.


Let's just say good level designers should make sure that not every room or corridor looks the same in those goddamn fuckken Deep Roads. Something DA:2 did better than DA:O, ironically.
