(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 01:28 am (UTC)(link)First time I played Unreal I got lost in a straight corridor. I turned around. I got fucking lost. I can't play any 3D game without getting lost all the time. It's frustrating as hell.

(Anonymous) 2014-03-04 08:53 am (UTC)(link)I'm not quite as good as you say you are in RL, but I've only been completely lost like 2 times in my life.
...So yeah. I feel you.

The situation is made more hilarious by the fact that my little brother is the opposite--he has an AMAZING sense of direction in video games but a really, really, really terrible one in real life.

I don't remember having too many issues in Dragon Age, but I recently was replaying Mass Effect and was so glad when 2 gave you directions to your objective, so I didn't get turned around. Though sometimes they don't ... I hate having to navigate Illium or Omega.

In TF2, I almost exclusively played payloads, because at least if I was very lost, I could follow the train tracks.

Which is probably why the last time I got lost was in Fucking Florida. Made a wrong turn and ended up in the hell of miles of identical strip mall construction, surrounded by miles of identical housing construction, governed by housing committees that demand identical yard grooming, connected by miles of nonsensical connecting roads.
The local Army and Coast Guard will be marching on St. Patrick's day, and they have more individuality in uniform marching in perfect formation than suburban Jacksonville.
