Re: Idina Menzel at Last Night's Oscars

I just told my roommate that I've decided I only like her voice when it's been recorded. I just think she sounds fuller, more focused when she's not live. Which sucks, because usually the live performance is so much more dynamic and fulfilling.

But she has a Very particular voice and style, so it's something not everyone will like regardless of context or avenue, and whether or not it's been recorded. She's incredibly distinct, which is why more people are starting to recognize her in Hollywood and movies since Rent came out (all those years agooo...). It's kinda nifty that it's getting more people talking about Broadway again.

But it's definitely not my thing.
