This was either clumsily stated, or my view on this is a little bit different than yours OP. I'm going to assume the former.

I too feel like sometimes I don't want to crush on someone, but I want to feel like I relate to them, and because I'm female, I don't get a whole lot of chances to do that. It's something that I think is slowly changing with movies like Frozen or Gravity, but not fast enough. I wish there were more people who wanted to talk about how much they identify and read into the nuances of female characters too. It's just that others are going to like what they're going to like, and with male characters being the center of the fucking universe, you're not likely to get huge crowds talking about how awesome the female in support of them is.
