Why is it wrong to change the backstory in this reboot but it's ok in other franchises? I honestly don't understand the problem and I want to.

it's as if hypothetical Irak hollywood would take King Kong in 60 years and change the climax into King Kong climbing the world trade center, so air planes have to crash into the tower to fight him

if King Kong was the personification of 9/11

You do realize the original godzilla was born of later nuclear testing after WWII and not during the initial bomb drop, right? That was the origin back in the very first movie. 1954 is referenced for a reason, it's also about the Bikini Atol incident and always has been. The attack of godzilla itself is hiroshima and nagasaki, but they weren't the only component.
