Fairport Convention, "Doctor of Physick"

Oh Liege & Lief is the famous groundbreaking album (and technically came out in December 1969, making it debatable as to whether it should be counted as a '70s album), but it's 1970's Full House that proves that not only could they keep going after Ashley Hutchings and Sandy Denny left, they could even get better. This one is one of Richard Thompson's best songs of the era, and that combo of Dave Pegg on bass and Swarb's violin is just to die for. Fabulous song from a great album that's unfortunately a little overlooked in favor of Liege & Lief.

I used to listen to Fairport Convention back in the 80's. Thanks for reminding me I liked them.

Oh gosh, Fairport Convention! Thanks for reminding me of them and all their wonderful songs. I had Liege & Lief on vinyl way back in the 80s. I think I'll go on a traditional ballads/folk rock downloading spree and relive my youth.
