(Anonymous) 2014-03-07 08:08 am (UTC)(link)If you've kept watching the show, OP, you'll know there's more to Rust's character than just what we see in the first 3 episodes. The thing about Rust is that he really doesn't care what other people think of him, just like Marty said in his assessment to their boss. He's not interested in making friends. And I think the reason Rust is the way he is has more to do with how he isolates himself than with how he thinks or what he says. I think if you have friends, relationships, or are even at all part of a community, then you're probably not going to end up like Rust.
