Good gen Lord of the Ring or Hobbit fics. Or in particular any fics that focus on Sauron, Morgoth, Gandalf, or Elrond.

l like the shippy stuff, but I'm really in the mood for gen.

Flick through that comm if you haven't already and you'll find some gems; there's a tag called 'genre: gen' and fics are also categorised by character and format (note, though. Sorry I can't rec any specifically; I've only just started getting back into Tolkien fanfic myself.

Nawyn's The Greatest Price is also amazing, but not sure if you wanted Sil or LotR for Elrond.
