what culture?

I think I'm missing something obvious here, but what culture pov are you talking about?

I think in this case it's specifically Japanese, but the sentiment could be applied to any non-Western culture.

Ah, that makes sense I suppose. Thank you.

errm... excusez moi? I'm from a so called western culture and frequently pretty pissed at how american mainstream opinions on gender and feminism are forced on media and even academia in my country. no one cares that there is a completely different history of these things over here than in a culturally still pretty faraway US. (concerning nudity, for example. the connotations are hugely different.)
So please don't give me that western-culture-homogeneity vs. non-western-they're-oh-so-different stuff.

AYRT

You're right. There is variation between Western cultures, and I should have been more sensitive to that.

However, there is definitely more crossover between Western cultures than there is between Western and non-Western ones, and many attitudes viz. gender in Western societies overlap in way that they do not with non-Western societies.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that there are varying degrees of differentiation. American culture is not the same as Italian culture, but the two have far more in common than, say, Italian and Chinese culture.

the cultures of nevada, texas, utah, and louisiana, obviously

no, but seriously, i'm assuming they mean japanese culture. me, i'm just baffled why those state silhouettes are there

Yeah, the states are what threw me off.

Obviously those states represent what states each of the characters are from.

Madoka's from Texas because she has strong religious beliefs and her girlfriend's big on the second amendment.

I didn't even realize there were states shapes. Oops.

OP here

I kind of just put them there for the heck of it and sometimes do small dumb stuff to my secrets just to see if anyone points it (they usually don't.) Also the transparency left a mark that kinda looked like Texas and I wanted do some pixeling.

Though, if you wanna stretch it to mean the ethnocentric view of feminism mentioned in here, have at it.
