I like Frozen's animation more than a lot of the other CGI's (though the women's noses bug me a lot). That being said...

Why, in all the promo art, does Elsa have such a sassy expression? She looks so suave, cheeky, confident. This is nothing like her character. Even when she's singing Let it Go, she's more genuine and relieved rather than sassy. It just doesn't suit her. I don't get it.

IIRC, originally they were going with a more villainous Elsa, who would've been more sassy and confident. But after "Let It Go," they decided the song was too upbeat for a villain song, and they changed the story up.

So maybe the promo art (which came out waaaay long ago to start) was from that?

Because the Dreamworks face puts asses in seats. No, seriously, that's it. Movie posters where the characters are looking at the camera like "Yeah, we're going to get into trouble and have fun doing it" are simply more appealing to kids than the more classic, artsy style Disney used to do.

Yep, thank you. Folks have a tendency to look for complex explanations, when the real explanations are simple, boring, and unflattering. Asses, seats, no other moving parts.
