It's pretty funny to me when they don't even understand the goddamn anime itself, let alone Japanese culture. It's really fucked up to claim Chihiro from Dangan Ronpa is trans. Or Hungary from Hetalia. Chihiro acted feminine as an escape because he didn't think he could be "manly" enough, but he WANTED to be. Hungary was just a confused kid who got over it once she learned how biological sex works. In both cases, if they actually were trans, they'd be horrible representations that just "got over it". Ugh.

Especially when Chihiro was supposed to be a commentary on societal gender roles and bullying in Japan, which are major issues in the current culture there.

Yep. But even without any knowledge of anything outside of the source material, Chihiro himself fucking says he actually does want to be more masculine so reading him as MtF is offensive as fuck.
