The problem is that people don't claim it as feminist for just themselves. And that is very damaging in Japan, to idealize what is basically the status quo already as feminist.

It'd be like, back before the huge feminist movement in America, idealizing the 1950s housewife as this huge ode to femininity and the ideal as opposed to choice and then nothing changes.
