Androgyny used to creep me out until I figured out why it was creeping me out, which I think has to do with me being unable to figure out how to act around androgynous people, which just pointed out to me how gendered my behavior and treatment of others was. And that unsettled me, so I've attempted to change my ideas of gender and behavior and now not so much with the creeping me out.

I think this is a common reaction, judging by the number of people who appear very uncomfortable with not being able to figure out my gender (I'm pretty androgynous in appearance). Thank you for putting thought into it and deciding to change; I think that's pretty cool.

Good on you for making the change. That might sound sarcastic, but I'm sincere: we need more people like you who look inside themselves and alter their behavior for the better.

It doesn't creep me out, but I'm always worried that I'll end up being rude by using the wrong pronoun by accident, especially because I had it drilled into me that the polite way to address a stranger was with "sir/ma'am."

Yes, thanks for drawing attention to the fact that the "creep" factor is to do with socialisation. I don't think it's "natural" to be creeped out by a normal human variation, I think it's taught.
