To be fair, I don't think the game really ever tried to pretend Aoba wasn't being raped. Aoba is unfortunately really forgiving, especially in Mink's storyline (well, the good ending storyline), but I thought most of the rape was portrayed really violently and not in a particularly sexy way. Seemed more deliberately disturbing, which was on par with the general atmosphere of the game. Aoba was never "secretly wanting the sex" like lots of yaoi-rape doujinshi, at least, if I recall correctly.

Oh dear lord stop trying to pretend that the rapes in a sex game are not meant to arouse and that DMMd is ~so much deeper~

And nothing excuses the shitty Rape Is Love trope.

So what if they are? What's your point? They can still be portrayed as serious, violent and traumatic... and the audience can wank if they like.
