Fandom pretends Jackson didn't exist? I only watch the show and read fanfic, but in almost every fic he appears at some point like it's essential to mention him, I would never have guessed the fandom was ignoring him. Is this everywhere else?

I almost exclusively read pairings that don't have Jackson, and he usually shows up anyway. The fic-writing portions of fandom like Jackson (at least more than they like Allison, who is occasionally just not there even when the rest of her family is.)

It depends a lot on when the fic is set. A lot of people like to set their fics in a post-season-two, season-three-what-season-three-lalalalalala time frame because they want to keep Boyd and Erica, and Jackson tends to stick around as a result of that.

Seriously. Jackson (and Erica, and sometimes Boyd) get a lot more attention from fandom than they do from Jeff Davis.
