He's a one-note asshole character played by an asshole homophobe actor who doesn't have any chemistry with the actors he shared scenes with. I don't get the Sterek either, but at least the actors have chemistry together and neither are total douches.

You can still ship them. I've come across Derek/Jackson fic so even though it's rare, it's out there.

But I agree that Jackson's storyline was getting really interesting and it sucks that all that potential was lost. Pretty sure it was Colton Haynes' decision to leave the show though.

Yeah but they never did develop him. I don't care much for asshole characters but it's always kind of annoying to me when they remain totally one note with no development, no matter how many seasons pass.

i'm conflicted about jackson. like, on one hand, i think he's an interesting (and not really one dimensional) character and i can relate to some of his issues (putting so much pressure on yourself to be perfect, etc) but colton haynes is a dickweed and i've never been good at separating actor from character with stuff like that. i dunno if i'd even want him back on the show just because i hate how he can come back on the show while all the others actors who wanted to leave the show were quickly killed off and never spoken of again.

but uh yeah i like the idea of derek/jackson too, just... without the manipulation and scare tactics on derek's part.

I'll always regret not getting more on Jackson. To me he always seemed like such a tragic character -- and a perfect example of "having the perfect life" not actually not being all that perfect.

Yeah, I def think there was more homoerotic scenes between derek and jackson than sterek. but derek's such a creeper and i can't ship him when he's being a creeper. fyi, i don't ship sterek either. and jackson was just not very likable to me (you know, one-dimensional jock that they should have tried to develop)

I thought Jackson's one redeeming trait was that tentative friendship with Allison... that never went anywhere. And I thought the whole 'Lydia is his true love solves the Kanima problem was bullshit... what's the point of bringing up his adoption and his internal conflict with loving his parents if that was not going to tied into the story and solving the problem. Oh Teen Wolf, you miss what's right in front of you.

I don't ship Derek/Jackson, ( I liked Jackson/Scott) but boy do I agree with you about Sterek. Even if I don't like the fandom popular ship, I usually get why it's popular. I usually get it.

But I don't get Sterek. I don't get why it's so popular. I don't get the appeal. I don't see any shipping tension, or tension otherwise. I see nothing.

I get how you feel about feeling like an outsider. I don't even go in fandom for teen wolf unless reading spoilers/speculations and episode discussions.

This was my experience exactly.

I watched the first 9 episodes before I checked out the fandom. Jackson was my favorite from the start and I was looking forward to seeing him developed more.
I shipped Derek/Jackson so hard after all their scenes together. I was really expecting the big slash ships to be Derek/Jackson and Scott/Stiles. Imagine my surprise when I did check out the fandom :(

I stopped watching after season 2 but left the fandom before that. The fandom can be pretty hostile if you don't like Sterek or Stiles.

I can see sort of see why you'd ship them, but I am one of those fans that is perfectly happy to even ignore he existed and could never ship Jackson with anyone due to my burning hatred of the character. He was far too successful in my eyes at playing the asshole-bully-jock character and I cannot get past that. The actor being an asshole didn't help any.

I thought Jackson was getting better but now I hate him all over again. I don't know if I buy the homophobic thing some anons are saying, but CH is definitely a dick. Sorry, OP. I'm not very good at separating actors from characters. That doesn't mean you can't still ship them!

I have mixed feelings on Jackson; he was a total asshole and at times I absolutely loathed him, but he did have a couple of interesting relationships (Danny, Allison, Lydia) and I think given time he could've been a great, (even) likable character. There was potential for character growth but because of his departure from the show it was unfulfilled. Sometimes I wonder what TW would be like if he were still around, but then I remember how large the cast already is and how there's not enough time to get around to everyone (and even more people are being added for next season, so I'm a bit worried about that) and think maybe it's for the best.

As for Derek/Jackson, I can see the appeal from a physical standpoint and they did have some tense scenes, but I don't ship it. Maybe if Jackson had stuck around.

I do enjoy Sterek but you either like it or you don't. I like their scenes together, like the way their dynamic has changed and think their relationship has potential, but there's not a lot of homoerotic scenes between them, no (though the brief lip staring in the wall scene was hot!).

Sorry there isn't more fic? I've been there. Not in this fandom, but yea, I've been there. Maybe Jackson will come back at some point (I know Colton is busy with Arrow but since TW didn't kill him off there's always hope) and the pairing will get a bit of new love.

Fandom pretends Jackson didn't exist? I only watch the show and read fanfic, but in almost every fic he appears at some point like it's essential to mention him, I would never have guessed the fandom was ignoring him. Is this everywhere else?

I can see why people would ship both ships tbh, but then I can usually see reasons for most ships and I think there are only a couple that I don't get(in general not just this fandom).

1. Fandom doesn't pretend he didn't exist. That's the writers.

2. I feel like I don't belong in fandom either. Join the club. It's honestly not that big a deal. Why? Because the fandom is kinda... not... um, completely there.

They did have some epic tension and are shippable. I'm mostly into the show for Stiles and Peter, but I still miss Jackson. It's a pity the actor left just as his character was about to get more interesting, and I hate how the fandom seems to hate and ignore him completely. :/

Mmm, Jackson/Derek. Now why didn't I think of that? I was so all up in Scott/Derek's business at the time Jackson was around that I guess I wasn't paying enough attention. Asshole/Asshole ships are fun.

I didn't like Jackson as a character, he was a complete jackass, but like you said, I loved his potential. Every hint of depth we got with him, whether his history with his parents, or his apparently genuine friendship with Danny, or his real affection for Lydia, I wanted more, and I just never got it. I clapped and squealed when his eyes finally went wolf-blue, and then he was gone. Say what you want about his likeability, but the guy really could shake things up. There's no other not-quite-evil snarky character like him, except for Peter, and the problem with Peter is that he actually is evil. Sigh.

Anyway, finally watching Arrow now because of this secret. I needs me some more Hayes.

How the show handwaved Jackson's departure from the show was one of the reasons I couldn't bring myself to watch Season 3. His perfect dickishness was one of the highlights of the show for me.
