Wouldn't the real pair-the-spares situation with Kou be if someone shipped her in a secondary ship with whoever is left over from shipping a pairing out of Haruka, Rin, Makoto? I don't know if anyone actually does this though.

Some Rin/Haru fans do actually side ship Makoto/Kou.

I've never seen anyone do it in a fashion that doesn't feel like pair-the-spare.

I see MakoGou more as a way to get Makoto out of Haru's life.
