All I can think after reading all the details people are giving, for both sides, in the comments is that you're a dick for boiling it down to Seanan McGuire being "afraid" of fat jokes.

Seanan McGuire seems to be totally unfamiliar with Jonathan Ross and his perfectly valid credentials for hosting the Hugos but is very quick to whip out the old crystal ball and predict what sort of jokes he's planning to tell at the event. She might not be afraid of as yet non-existent fat jokes but she's certainly keen on deciding who's in and who's out of "our community", whatever that is. Who appointed her as the great sci-fi gatekeeper?

Nothing wrong with being "afraid" of fat jokes. It's just not entirely kosher to bust someone for doing a shit job when they haven't actually done the job yet.

Although it does have to be said, if you are afraid of fat jokes then lose weight. I say that as a fatty-fat-fattie myself. I choose to cram food down my gullet and not to do enough exercise, so fat jokes are simply one of the prices I pay for the pleasure. One of the others is of course the crushing chest pailxdfjgdfshugpohpxhbxhfpguhujh;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

Or be a decent human being and not tell fat jokes? Much easier and doesn't cost a thing!

No one should have to change themselves physically just be treated as a human being.
