I know the feeling, thank goodness I managed to train myself to hit the mute button instead. Makes it so much easier. I would cheerfully kill to end this current trend towards cringe-comedy though. Specifically, the person to kill would be Ricky Gervaise which would pretty much end the trend on its own.

Mute buttoner here as well: I also love that "jump 6 seconds ahead" button on the cable remote.

Same here...mute and fast forward.

Unfortunately, avoiding Gervaise don't work... I DO - I don't remember the last time I watched something he appeared in or wrote, and it certainly wouldn't have been willingly - and I'm still muting a disproportionate number of shows.
