helping out means paying bills and buying groceries for you? those are things you can only do if you have a job. people who are living with their parents most likely don't have one. you can help out in other ways that don't involve money at all.

Nitpicky, but plenty of people where I live have jobs but still live with their parents. Agreed that there's other ways of helping out, like housework. If it is a case of them not chipping in or helping somehow, then I agree with the OP's sentiment.

Uuuuh. I have a job and continue to live with my parents because it's fucking impossible to afford a decent apartment making $7.60/hr with only 36 hours a week.

i know this happens, that's why i said 'most likely' and not 'always'. also the situation is not the same everywhere; in my country people generally move out once they get a job, if not before that.

Maybe it's just me, but when I read 'buying groceries' I assumed that meant going to the stores and buying the faimily's groceries with my parents money while they were at work.
So the effort and time of it, not the actual spending, which I certainly couldn't afford back in the day.
