I think OP was talking more about people who complain endlessly rather than people as a whole. Ever since Tumblr became popular it become less of a stream and more like a flood of people that their lives are horrible and, apparently, the worst ever.

Plus, did anyone bother to read the second half of the secret? OP was essentially telling people to put their problem in perspective rather than acting like their's were the only one. After all, an astounding amount of people on the internet seem rather short-sighted when it comes to things like this.

I have literally never heard "get some perspective" used in any way other than condescending "I've had it worse than you, your life isn't that bad because X didn't happen."
