Re: Religion

I'm.... not sure I really qualify as a Christian, but I say I am because I do believe in Jesus, and see Him as a savior. However, I don't think that necessarily has to mean He is the son of God. Whoever Jesus really is/was, it's the teachings that matter the most to me.

Overall, I essentially think there's a bit of truth in all religions, and that the Bible - both Christian and Hebrew - is more a series of parables with some of that same truth. So it's not that I see the Bible as bogus - I just see it as a transcribed retelling of retellings of retellings.

So there you have it.

Though I do say I'm a Christian and believe Christ was divine, I also find this comment resonates with me a bit. I think the word "Son" means something that is...a bit different from how we think of that word usually? And it's not terribly concrete at least to human understanding.

And I think most religions have some truth in them, even if I don't believe they are 100% correct. I also think other traditions/philosophies can also have wisdom to offer with the way people live their lives, if they are ultimately seeking to be good and have a positive impact on the world.

DA

But the teachings are what matter the most? A lot of Christians don't seem to get that "believing in Jesus" is literally "believing in Jesus" i.e., what Jesus actually taught/did/said/etc. Not just a happy-clappy song-and-dance routine once a week, and you're good to go.

IMO, anyway. /Judeo-Christian
