I'm not. I was raised Catholic, went through all the Sacraments, helped my mother teach Catechism to first-graders... but the only reason I ever believed was because literally everyone around me believed, so I didn't have the vocabulary or the context to challenge the ideas I had been taught. There was always this tension, this disconnect, that I later identified as cognitive dissonance. I had been suspending disbelief all that time, rather than being sincerely convinced that God and Jesus and miracles and the rest actually existed in reality.

When I eventually learned that atheism was a thing, and realized that all those ancient mythologies used to be "real" religions with sincere believers, it just made so much more sense to me that Christianity was another man-made religion with its own invented God. Nothing I've ever seen or experienced since then has given me any reason to believe in the existence of real-life gods. So here I am.
